Ways to
Work With Me

Osteopathy is a primary health care profession specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions related to nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and joints.

Osteopathy

Treatment of most issues in your musculoskeletal system. Whether it is pain, tension, instability, dizziness, clicking jaw or headaches/migraines.

Areas it treats: the entire body; toes, feet, ankles, calf, shin, knee, thigh, groin, glutes, lower back, mid back, upper back, abdomen, ribs, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hands, fingers, neck, and head.

It is firm contact which incorporates manipulations in the form of High Velocity, Low Amplitude Thrusts (or “clicking” as described by some patients) or articulations, soft tissue work such as massage and soft tissue inhibition.

Other therapies that maybe incorporated within the appointment:

Sports Massage/Classical massage – is firm pressure that encourages increased blood flow through the soft tissues and has a physical, physiological and psychological therapeutic effect on the body. It helps to relax tight and tired muscles, increases flexibility, reduces muscle pain, aids recovery after trauma or fatigue, prevents the reoccurrence of injury in the long term, improves the health of soft tissue, invigorates and increases energy and can help to reduce anxiety through the promotion of relaxation.

It can also be beneficial in aiding the recovery from injury, during the healing and rehabilitation processes.

Postural alignment – balancing all structures of the musculoskeletal system in a pain free patient to help prevent injuries from over used/tight tissues (patients often describe it as maintenance treatment).

Cranial Osteopathy – Minimal contact treatment to allow the body to adjust itself; affective in helping symptoms of issues like Bell’s Palsy.

Medical acupuncture/dry needling – very thin needles which encourage blood supply to the soft tissue they are inserted into; this helps to relax the tissue. These can be effective in TMJ issues eg Temporomadibular dysfunction i.e. clicking/painful jaw.
